Online Therapy endeavours to make sure you’re matched with the right therapist. Our Intake Coordinator gathers your info and helps guide you through the initial phase of therapist matching. Our Intake Coordinator knows all of the Therapists on our team at Online Therapy, so this ensures that the fit is made with actual knowledge of both you and the therapists, in place of hoping a local therapist, or other referral source with an inadequate knowledge of your needs, is able to make a good match.

If after a few online therapy sessions you find your therapist isn’t a good fit, you can easily change to a new therapist. If you work with Online Therapy, changing therapists is as simple as getting back in touch with our Intake Coordinator. Your new therapist will have record of your previous info, so you won’t be starting from the very beginning again.

If you’re a parent with a child or teen who is struggling with some concern, Online Therapy has several Child and Adolescent Therapists who can help. Parenting support is offered by some of our therapists too, if that would be the best way to create harmony in your family. HOW ONLINE THERAPY WORKS

There will be paperwork just like with traditional face-to-face counselling, and this paperwork can be signed electronically.

Your therapist will ask you to arrange payment electronically at least 48 hours before each session via Paypal, an online payment platform, TransferWise or via direct deposit to your therapist’s account.

The start of therapy involves getting to know one another. Your therapist needs to introduce themselves, ask you some required start-of-session questions to ensure confidentiality and safety. After this, therapy proceeds just like a traditional in person therapy session. You will set your next follow up appointment and your therapist will ask you to arrange payment electronically before session.

Like face to face sessions, you may need to complete tasks or “homework” in between sessions to help further the work of your therapy.

It is important that you take steps to ensure that you have a confidential space where nobody is listening into your sessions, and where you will not be interrupted. You will need to have a strong internet connection and a functioning camera and microphone. Alternatively, you if it is a phone session, you will probably need Whatsapp or some other secure telephone platform.

You will likely be charged for a session that doesn’t work out as a result of inadequate preparation on your part. It is also important that you present yourself well, with decent lighting, and clothed appropriately- so if you aren’t wearing any pants, make sure your therapist doesn’t figure that out!
